Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These terms govern your use of trustRate, operated by House of BumbleBees Technologies LLP. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please read section 3 carefully — it describes exactly what trustRate is and, just as importantly, what it is not.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding agreement under Indian law to use trustRate. By signing up, you confirm this is true of you.
2. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your PIN and API key confidential, and for everything done through your account.
- The mobile number and identity details you provide must be your own and genuinely accurate — trustRate verifies identity through Aadhaar/PAN specifically to prevent impersonation, and providing false information is a serious violation of these terms.
- You may hold only one account per real identity. Creating a second account to escape a poor trustRate rating, or for any other reason, is prohibited and is detected and acted on.
3. What trustRate is — and what it is not
trustRate is a platform that lets two users record a trade-credit agreement between themselves and confirm how repayment went. That's the whole mechanism. To be direct about the limits:
- trustRate is not a lender. We never provide money or goods to anyone. Every agreement is between you and the other user, directly.
- trustRate is not a bank, NBFC, or payment processor. We don't move money between accounts, hold funds in escrow, or guarantee that a payment will actually happen.
- trustRate is not a government-recognised credit bureau. Your trustRate rating is not CIBIL, and lenders, landlords, or anyone else are not obligated to treat it as equivalent to one.
- trustRate does not guarantee repayment. If the other party to your agreement doesn't pay you back, that is a dispute between you and them — see section 7.
4. How the trustRate rating works
Your rating is calculated from your own real, confirmed transaction history on the platform — on-time payments, late payments, how much of your credit limit you're using, how long you've been active, and how varied your counterparties and credit types are. It updates automatically as your real history changes; nobody, including trustRate staff, can manually inflate or deflate it outside of the documented fraud-accountability process in section 8.
5. Creating and settling agreements
- An agreement is only binding once the other party has actively accepted it — nobody can be bound to a credit agreement they never agreed to.
- Both the giver and the receiver of credit are expected to confirm the real outcome honestly — on time, late, disputed, or settled. Deliberately misreporting an outcome to help or harm the other party's rating is a violation of these terms.
- Where an agreement is split into monthly instalments, each instalment has its own due date, and missing one can affect your trustRate rating even if you eventually pay the full amount by the final date — the rating reflects whether you paid on the schedule you agreed to, not just whether you eventually paid.
6. Fees
trustRate charges a commission on settled agreements — currently 0.5% for business-to-business goods credit, and 1% for peer-to-peer money credit and service credit — plus a flat fee for certain verification/profile-check actions. Current rates are shown in your billing dashboard and may change with notice.
7. Disputes between users
If something goes wrong in a specific agreement — goods weren't delivered as agreed, a payment is disputed — raise it through the in-app dispute flow on that agreement. trustRate reviews disputes we're asked to look at, but we are not a court and cannot force either party to pay. A disputed agreement is marked as such and does not silently count as either an on-time or a late payment while it's unresolved.
8. Fraud, accountability, and account action
We actively monitor for collusion, fake agreements, and other fraud patterns between accounts. Where we confirm wrongdoing:
- A confirmed fraud strike reduces the rating of the identity responsible for it.
- Repeated confirmed strikes can lead to a temporary suspension or, for serious or repeated wrongdoing, a permanent ban — tied to your real verified identity, not just the account, so a ban cannot be escaped by signing up again under a different mobile number.
- You can contest any flag or strike raised against you through the in-app appeal process before it's finalised.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, provided you have no agreement that is still pending, confirmed, overdue, or disputed with any other user — you need to settle those first, since removing your identity mid-agreement would leave the other party's own record incomplete. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what happens to your data when you delete your account.
10. Limitation of liability
trustRate is provided "as is". We work to keep the platform accurate and available, but we are not liable for losses arising from another user's failure to honour an agreement, from a decision you made relying on someone else's trustRate rating, or from circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under Indian law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute with trustRate itself is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the location of our registered office.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the date at the top, and where a change is significant, we'll notify you in-app before it takes effect.
